Last but not least…something you may find interesting.

1. Venus & Adonis is a collection of erotic poems by William Shakespeare commissioned by the wealthy patron Sir Henry Wriothesley, the 3rd Earl of Southampton and published in 1593. Shown bellow are the original cover, dedication page and the painting of Sir Henry with his cat Trixie.

The poems tell the story of Venus, Roman Goddess of Love (Aphrodite in Greek), and of her unrequited love and eventual seduction of Adonis, a handsome young man who would rather go hunting then make love. Venus wins…sometimes. After all she is the Goddess of Love. Like me!

Venus & Adonis poems were written in Elizabethan English, which in this case becomes a hidden reward for visiting me: Can you, as the learned guest, write me an email at salone@salone.io and quote back the poem you liked. There are 7 of them. Why? You‘ll see!
